Tweed Twigs pushes the boundaries of the Flower Towers

Read on to learn what he loves most about the Adjustable Flower Towers:

Tell me a little about you, your business, and the style of florals you love to create:

My name is Graham and I am the principal florist behind Tweed Twigs.

Tweed Twigs is a floral artist based in Melbourne Victoria, a practice that uses flowers as a medium for expression and intention through events and installations. I personally love creating for the senses, through the minute details and the large. The expanding perception of how we perceive flowers is often how I like to create for both the clients and myself.

How did you find out about the Flower Towers and what were your initial thoughts?

I definitely have always been interested in a structure that aligned with both creating an experience as well as sustainability.
I first came across it through Film & Foliage using it and thought that it was absolute genius. I had previously used a plethora of household items as structures, think shower caddies or plant stands but having something that was purpose built for the industry was an absolute winner. It definitely fulfils the brief and provides the foundation of creating installations to a different scale.

What challenges were you facing with your floral installations prior to getting the Flower Towers?

I had previously used posts, plant stands and the such as base structures but more often than not, never found them weighty enough. Even if weight bags were used, they had to be concealed and cumbersome such as when I used umbrella stands. Additionally, using massive rolls of chicken-fire was annoying because each install was very specific and often could not be used in the same way. The towers were flexible enough to meet a basic or complex brief.

How has your experience been creating installations since owning the Flower Towers?

The towers have been a great experience both from a creative and sustainability point of view. Having them purpose built for off-the-shelf sundries meant that each installation could be tweaked as the brief required as well as removing the stress of a new mechanic. Having the towers tried and tested meant that I could focus more on the design and how to stretch the towers to their fullest potential.

What’s your favourite feature of the Towers?

Definitely the slim and weighty base. It has saved so much effort in trying to conceal the base and them being able to be pegged into the ground is a life saver.

Any final thoughts or comments about the Flower Towers and how they have changed the way you flower?

I love how sustainability is front and centre for the towers' design. It makes it extremely easy to switch from a world of foam to one that is both hassle-free and design forward. It marries up the process to allow me to be able to push my own agenda and focus on design.
